Remember Jubilee at the Workhouse? A great partnership between Ripon Museums and Ripon Theatre Festival in 2022. Well, there’s more collaboration planned this summer and one final chance for you to get involved!
Potential performers and “backstage” helpers are all needed and there’s fun to be had telling stories inspired by the Museums’ collections, meeting people and gaining confidence. We’re delighted to welcome back Mark Cronfield from Fell-Foss Theatre (pictured here) who will be working with the Workhouse Theatre Group to develop a Workhouse Walkabout act and a Courthouse drama (The Trial of John Sinkler). They will be breathing life into the vibrant characters of Ripon’s past – from the poorest to the most powerful, when all eyes were on the Courthouse for public entertainment and the talk of the town was the trial of the notorious poachers the Sinkler Brothers.
If you’d like to join the Theatre Group in whatever capacity for summer 2024, come along to the Workhouse Museum on Saturday 18 May (10.30am-12.30pm) to find out more. All are welcome.
Tickets are already selling fast for The Trial of John Sinkler at the Courthouse Museum on Saturday 6 July.
